When a serious car accident left Rebecca, a 40 year-old Oshtemo mother of two, unable to perform the job she had held for 10 years, her savings were decimated, her bills piled up, and eventually lost her house to foreclosure.

In the wake of this tragedy, HRI’s Housing Stabilization Program provided Rebecca and her daughters with a rent-subsidized apartment, helped her secure disability benefits, repair her credit, and find new employment. While in the Homeward Program, Rebecca earned her high school equivalency degree and began taking classes at KVCC. A year after completing the program, Rebecca and her daughters continue to maintain independent housing. She has since finished her Associates degree in business, embarked on a new career, and will soon be a homeowner again.
