Crisis Intervention

Crisis Intervention

While our long-term goal at Housing Resources is to eliminate homelessness by helping people find affordable housing, we recognize that housing issues often start with a crisis.  That’s why we have several crisis-oriented programs and collaborate with other local agencies to solve housing crisis situations for people. Housing Resources’ Eleanor House provides short-term shelter for families with children.

A consortium of community partners including the City of Kalamazoo District Court and the Michigan Department of Human Services operates the Eviction Diversion Program, to help tenants avoid eviction and to help landlords avoid the expensive eviction process.  In addition, we collaborate with Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.  to assist people being threatened with foreclosure.

We also collaborate with a variety of local agencies to help people gain the knowledge and skills necessary to allow them afford sustainable housing.
