Rental assistance is available for eligible Kalamazoo-area households.

Housing Resources, Inc. (HRI) is pleased to share information on the Moving Forward Program, a Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program funded by the City of Kalamazoo.

The Moving Forward Program is designed to help eligible households obtain and maintain safe, stable housing by reducing the portion of rent they are responsible for paying. The program also supports participants in building long-term financial stability through Financial Self-Sufficiency activities.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Need assistance obtaining or maintaining stable housing.
  • Have earned income, AND;
  • Have household income at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI), AND;
  • Reside in, or are seeking housing within, the City of Kalamazoo or the Kalamazoo County Public School District, AND;
  • Meet other program eligibility requirements.
